INFORMED CONSENT IN THE CARE OF THE ADOLESCENT PATIENT - HOW NOT TO MOUNT THE KERB
Synopsis:
The ability of adolescents to consent to various types of health care may vary depending on the clinical situation. Frontline medical professionals have a responsibility to be aware of the legal and ethical issues surrounding adolescent consent and should be familiar with the practice of obtaining informed consent in adolescent patients within their area of practice. This symposium addresses the issues surrounding adolescent consent, on topics such as contraception, diagnostic testing, procedural treatment and confidentiality.
