Healthcare professionals are often required to assess the mental capacity of their patients to make specific decisions relating to their care and treatment. This assessment is undertaken in a more structured way when it is done for a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) or for court appointed Deputyship.
This webinar, jointly organised by the SMA Centre for Medical Ethics and Professionalism and College of Psychiatrist, Academy of Medicine, Singapore, will introduce the basic concepts as well as explore the subtleties of the mental capacity assessments often undertaken at both primary care and specialist settings for vulnerable populations including for End of Life care and those with Dementia or Intellectual Disability.
