A/Prof Cuthbert Teo
Dr Teo is a Senior Consultant Pathologist, Gazetted Forensic Pathologist, and Branch Director (Technical Capability), at the Forensic Medicine Division, Health Sciences Authority. His teaching appointments include Adjunct Associate Professor (Forensic Science) (Faculty of Science, NUS); Senior Lecturer (Forensic Medicine) (Yong Yoo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore); Consultant and Trainer (Home Team Academy, Ministry of Home Affairs); Trainer (School of Criminal Investigation, Criminal Investigation Department) and Lecturer and Founding Faculty (SMA course on Medical Ethics, Professionalism and Health Law). He is a Visiting Consultant at Changi General Hospital (Department of Laboratory Medicine) and KK Women's and Children's (Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology).
He has contributed book chapters in 'Clinical Forensic Medicine' (Greenwich Medical); 'The Pathology of Trauma' (Arnold); 'Medical Malpractice (Singapore Medical Association); 'Families in Conflict: Approaches in Mediation and Counselling' (Butterworths); Polson's Essentials in Forensic Medicine (Arnold); and Changing Public Perceptions of Child Abuse and Neglect in Singapore (Singapore Children's Society).
He sits on various committees, including SMA News and Singapore Medical Journal (Editorial Boards); Chapter of Pathologists, Academy of Medicine (past Chairman and current ExCo member); Audit Committee (CGH); Serious Reportable Events Quality Assurance Committee (KKH), and Singapore Children's Society (Board member, Honorary Secretary, Research and Advocacy Standing Committee, Social Work Services Standing Committee).
Dr Teo has received the Minister for Health Award for work in SARS (2003), the Children's Charities Service Award (2004), the Minister for Health Award for Tsunami Relief (2005), the Singapore Police Overseas Medal (2005), the SMJ Reviewer Recognition Award (2007), the Singapore Children's Society (SCS) Gold Award (2009), the SCS Ruth Wong Award (2011), the Long Service Medal (Pingat Bakti Setia) (2012); the Long Service Award (National Council of Social Services, 2014), the Minister of Health Letter of Appreciation for Disaster Victim Identification Work in relation to the 28 December 2014 Air Asia Flight QZ8501 crash (2015); the Public Administration Medal, Bronze (Pingat Pentadbiran Awam (Gangsa) (2015), and Valued Reviewer Award (Journal of Forensic and Legal Medicine, 2016).
